Obituary

Dot Lincoln, beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend passed away Wednesday January 4, 2012 at Porter Medical Center after a short illness. She was born October 7, 1922 in Athol, MA, the daughter of the late Merrill R. and Effie (Finney) Ellis. Dot was a United States Navy Veteran serving with the WAVES (US Naval Reserve) during WWII. She worked as a secretary for the University of Vermont Alumni Office and also for Co-Operative Insurance Companies. At age 50 she continued her education and became a Licensed Practical Nurse, working as a private duty nurse and volunteering her time as a hospice worker, but above all she dedicated her life to helping others. She is survived by her daughter, Bonnie Parenteau, and her husband Jack of Windham, NH, and by her grandsons, Don Ordway, his wife Tami and their children Jessica, Olivia and Justin of St. Albans, VT, and Curt Ordway, and his wife Kristin of Milton, VT. She was predeceased by her brother, Raymond Ellis, and her sisters, Beverly Goodfield and Vaida Prudhomme. A memorial service will be held on Saturday January 28, 2012 at 12 PM at the Cornwall Congregational Church. The Rev. Mary Kay Cavazos will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cornwall Congregational Church in lieu of flowers.
