Dorothy Clow Jacobs, age 91, died at the Helen Porter Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Middlebury, Vermont, on May 12, 2010.
Dorothy was born in Sanbornton, New Hampshire on January 27, 1919, daughter of Fred and Eva (Marshall) Clow. She graduated from Hinsdale High School. Dorothy was married to Frank S. Jacobs in 1938. They lived most of their married life in Walpole, New Hampshire. She worked for twenty years as the secretary at the Walpole School until her retirement in 1984. She then enjoyed a very active life doing cake decorating, quilting, gardening, raising African violets and clivia, and caring for the elderly around town. She especially enjoyed family vacations on the coast of Maine. She was a member of the Walpole Congregational Church Women's Fellowship and worked on the Mistletoe Mart every year. She lived with her daughter, Margaret, in Orwell, Vermont after her husband passed away.
Dorothy is survived by her six children: Nancy McAdams of Tennessee, Rodney of Maine, Carol Shaw of Florida, Margaret Ryan of Vermont, David of Colorado, and Harry of New Hampshire. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren, plus nephews and nieces.
Dorothy was predeceased by Frank, her husband of 64 years; her sister, Winona Tacy; her brother, Arthur Clow; and her grandson, Patrick Batchelor.
A graveside ceremony will be held at the Walpole Village Cemetery on Saturday, May 15, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. with a reception to follow at the Walpole Congregational Church on the Common in Walpole, N.H. Arrangement are under the direction of Sanderson Funeral Home, Middlebury, Vermont.
