MIDDLEBURY- Della D. Fenn, 85, a longtime resident of Middlebury, passed away peacefully at Helen Porter Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center Monday, March 21, 2011.
Born in Chateaugay, NY May 26, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Laura (Wood) Willis. Following the death of her mother at a young age, she was raised by her aunt and uncle, Paul and Nancy (Wood) Dow.
Della was an apple farmer and was part of Dows Orchards of Middlebury for many years. She was the matriarch of her family and took great interest in each of their lives. Della had a great sense of humor and enjoyed life to its fullest.
She was a member of the Middlebury United Methodist Church and the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Surviving family members include one son, Ronald S. Fenn and his wife Susan of Danville, NH; five daughters, Patricia F. Clark and her husband Butch of East Middlebury, Sharon E. Holguin and her husband Louis of LasVegas, NM, Dorothy A. Foley of Middlebury, Connie E. Mason and her husband Joe and Ellen M. Smith and her husband Mike, all of Cave City, Kentucky; one brother Everett Willis of Malone, NY ten grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Della was predeceased by her husband, Stowell R. Fenn who died August 10, 1969; by two sisters, Evelyn Hutchins and Ruth Stone and by a brother, Walter Willis.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Helen Porter Healthcare and Rehabilitation for their wonderful care of their mother.
There will be no calling hours.
A memorial service will be conducted at 10 AM Friday, March 25, 2011 at Middlebury United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jill Robinson, pastor, officiating. Spring burial will take place at Prospect Cemetery, East Middlebury.
