Middlebury - David Michael Piper, 73, passed away suddenly on Thursday. Born in Middlebury on April 11, 1943, he was the youngest child of Stella and George "Joe" Piper. Mickey grew up on the family farm on West Street in Cornwall where he developed a love of all animals that would last the rest of his life. He graduated from MUHS and Champlain College. He also served in the Air National Guard. He was married to Dale Muller Piper on February 1, 1972. Mickey worked in the sales department of Brush Motors and G. Stone Motors where his professional knowledge and gift for gab served him well. Quick-witted and humorous, he was a master storyteller. He also enjoyed woodworking and participating in the lawn tractor pulls at Field Days with his wife Dale. He is survived by his son George Piper and granddaughter Julia Piper of Bristol and his daughter Amanda Sayers of Middlebury, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Dale, grandson Seamus, granddaughter Laura, and all seven of his siblings. Calling hours will be held Wednesday, July 27, 2016 from 4-6PM at Sanderson-Ducharme Funeral Home. There will be no funeral services. A get together and potluck will be held at the VFW on Friday night, July 29, 2016 from 5-8pm. Arrangements under the direction of Sanderson-Ducharme Funeral Home.
