CORNWALL- David B. McMullen, II, 44, died Saturday, January 16, 2010 at the Vermont Police Academy in Pittsford. Born October 26, 1965 in Barre, he was the son of David B. and Marilyn L. (Johnson) McMullen. David was a graduate of Montpelier High School, class of 1983 and attended Norwich University and Champlain College before receiving his degree from the College of St. Joseph in 2003. He was currently doing course work for his masters degree from Norwich University. He was employed by the State of Vermont for the past 21 years, 17 years in the Department of Corrections, and was currently the Training Coordinator for Homeland Security at the Vermont Police Academy in Pittsford. A resident of Cornwall for the past two years, he had previously resided in Proctor, serving as a member of the fire department in both communities. David was a member of the Vermont Police Association and had served as a part time police officer in Vergennes. He was a part time trainer for High 5, an adventure based training in Brattleboro. David was a Cub Scout den leader in Middlebury and was very involved in the Cornwall School Committee. He was Past Exalted Ruler of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks in Bennington, and was a past member of the Masons of Vermont. David was a country music fan and enjoyed motorcycles and rope courses. Survivors include his wife, Eugenia J. Jean McMullen of Cornwall whom he married March 21, 1992.; his mother of Barre; one son, Casey M. McMullen of Cornwall; one daughter, Makenzie E. McMullen of Cornwall; one brother, Patrick M. McMullen of Montpelier; several aunts, an uncle, nieces, and a nephew. David was predeceased by his father and a brother Sean A. McMullen. There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be conducted at 1 PM Sunday in the Otter Valley Union High School Auditorium followed by a time of fellowship in the school cafeteria.
