David A. Brooks, 74, died peacefully at home surrounded by love on Wednesday, July 15, 2015.
David was born in Amsterdam, NY on October 17, 1940, the son of Frank and Stella Brooks. He was a graduate of Broadalbin Central School and attended Fulton Montgomery Community College. David worked hard all his life including being a Fulton County Sheriffs Deputy, a Youth Division Aide at Tryon School, and an Emergency 911 Coordinator for Citizens Communications in Johnstown, NY.
David was a devoted member of the Broadalbin Kennyetto Fire Department for 35 years, an Officer for 30 years, and the Chief for 12 years. David was most currently a 4th degree member in the Knights of Columbus.
David was an amazing son, husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed being an active member in his community especially helping out at St. Peters Church in Vergennes. He enjoyed golfing, cooking, taking walks with his dog, and especially spending time with his family. He made the best chicken noodle soup and was the loudest cheerleader at his children and grandchildrens sporting events.
David is survived by his wife Patricia of 47 years. His son Matthew, and his wife Keila and their three children Valeria, Mia, and Matty who reside in Virginia. His daughter Michaela Brooks Whitman and her husband Patrick Whitman and their four children: Ella, Hunter, Chase, and Harrison Whitman of Shelburne, Vermont. He was also predeceased by his parents and his beloved daughter, Maria Chantal Brooks.
Visiting hours will be held Thursday, July 16 from 4-7pm at Sanderson Funeral Home, 117 South Main Street, Middlebury, VT. A funeral mass will be held Friday, July 17 at 10am at St. Peters Church, 85 South Maple Street, Vergennes, VT. A Memorial Service will be held at the Broadalbin Fire House, Pine Street, Broadalbin, NY with a burial to follow at Union Mills Cemetary. Time to be determined.
