David Edward Allen, of Ferrisburgh, Vermont died on August 9, 2016 after a hard fought battle with ALS. He was born in Pittsfield, Massachusetts on August 29, 1947. He proudly served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He worked at the Middlebury Post Office for over 20 years as a rural carrier until he retired due to his illness. He leaves his wife Carol (Sargent), two sons, Chad and his wife Sherri of Barre VT and Ben and his wife Tina of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Three Grandsons Jacob, Ryan and William of Barre, Vermont, as well as numerous friends and family members. Dave enjoyed many sports, especially the Middlebury Tigers , Middlebury Panthers hockey, and the Boston Red Sox. His ALS journey was made special and possible through some amazing caregivers. Our love and thanks to Mikela, Kathy, Heather and Kayla. Calling hours will be held Sunday evening August 14, 2016 at the Sanderson Funeral Home, 117 South Main St. Middlebury, from 4 to 6pm. A Memorial service will held on Monday, August 15 at 2 pm at the Vergennes Congregational Church.
