Daniel Kenneth Morrison Jr., 90, of Leicester, VT died Thursday, Nov. 26, 2015 at Porter Hospital in Middlebury, VT. He was the son of the late Daniel Kenneth and Alda (Bezanson) Morrison.
Ken was born May 1, 1925 in Lynn, MA. He attended schools in New Bedford, MA and Springfield, VT graduating in 1943. He received his B.S. degree in Animal Science from Massachusetts State College (now UMASS-Amherst) in 1950. When he returned to Springfield, he started a herd of Jerseys and raised chickens for hatching eggs. On May 2, 1953, he married Carol E Martin of Cheshire, MA. They continued farming in Springfield until 1962. At that time they moved their family and Jersey herd to Leicester, VT. After retiring, he continued to help on the farm occasionally and he started a woodworking business. Ken especially liked wood carving. He was a Lister for the Town of Leicester for several years, he lead 4-H clubs in Springfield and Leicester. He served on committees for Agway and Eastern AI.
Ken is survived by his wife of 62 years, Carol; his sons: Kevin, wife Rolande Morrison and Steven Morrison, his daughters: Cheryl and Evelyn Morrison, grandchildren: Sarah and Andy Morrison, all of Leicester. A daughter-in-law: Deborah Morrison of Wellford, SC, and her children; his sister, Phyllis Bogue of Feeding Hills, MA; several nephews, and cousins.
Ken was predeceased by his parents, his son, Robin Morrison and his brother, Alfred Morrison.
A private funeral will be held later in December. Burial will be in Brookside Cemetery in Leicester. Arrangements are being handled by SandersonDucharme Funeral Home. www.sandersonfuneralservice.com
