Cora Dragon MIDDLEBURY- Cora C. Dragon, 95, a longtime resident of Middlebury, died Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at Helen Porter Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center where she had resided for the past year. Born in Castleton June 4, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Claudia (Smith) Smith. Cora was a homemaker and had been employed in food service at Middlebury College for several years. She was a member of Russ Sholes Senior Center, Robert Frost Seniors, and a volunteer at RSVP. She was a member of East Middlebury United Methodist Church and was a member of the Methodist Women. Surviving family members include two sons, Michael E. Dragon and his wife Sandra of Middlebury and Joseph K. Dragon and his wife Kelly of East Middlebury, three daughters, Beverly J. DeGray and her husband Rodney of Salisbury, Marie E. Warner and her husband Ronald of Salisbury, and Dawn M. Boise and her husband Bryan of Cornwall; a daughter- in- law, Sandra Dragon of Middlebury; seven grandchildren, Kim Liberty, Tae Allen, Nicole Elithorpe, Albie Cousineau, Shelly Rheal, Michael Dragon, and Jamie Dragon; 7 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by husband, Joseph E. Dragon in 1976; by a son, Ellsworth E. Dragon; a daughter, Claudia E. Dragon; four brothers, Howard Smith, Daniel Smith, Kenneth Smith, and Russell Smith; and three sisters, Marjorie Goodwin, Gladys Walker and Ruth Cox, and a grandson, Jeremiah Warner. There will be no calling hours. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 AM Saturday at East Middlebury United Methodist Church with Rev. Robert Bushman, pastor, officiating. Private burial to follow in Middlebury Cemetery. If desired memorial donations may be made to the charity of ones choice.
