Clement DAvignon
MIDDLEBURY- Clement M. DAvignon, 75, died Monday, July 28, 2014 at his home.
Born in Weybridge August 5, 1938, he was the son of the late Joseph A. and Mary (Shackett) DAvignon. He married Margaret M. Malloy on November 8, 1958.
He was a lifelong resident of Weybridge and Middlebury, attended local schools and honorably served in the United States Navy.
In his early years Clement worked for the Marquis Movie Theatre, A. Emilo Building Supply, and the New Haven Drive-in. Clement later worked as an engineer for the Vermont Railway, Inc. for 36 years, from 1964 until 2000. Following his retirement he did consulting for Vermont Railway until 2012. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, and the American Legion.
Clement was a caring and loving father, always putting others needs before his own. He took many camping trips with his family, enjoyed fishing, bowling , hunting and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. His favorite hobby following his retirement was golfing. He was very attached to his two cats, Mischief and Trouble . He was a good storyteller.
Surviving family members include his wife, Margaret M. DAvignon of Middlebury; three sons, Ricky Allen John DAvignon of Salisbury, Kevin M. DAvignon of Castleton and Allen J. DAvignon and his wife Lisa of Somers, WI; one daughter Carol D. Raymond and her husband Tom of Middlebury; two brothers, James DAvignon of Weybridge and David DAvignon of East Middlebury; four sisters, Georgiana Bovar of Springfield, Rita Armell of Vergennes, Mary Basler of Hialeah ,FL and Theresa Turner of Poultney, VT; 10 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a granddaughter, Ashley DAvignon and brothers and sisters, Robert DAvignon, Joseph DAvignon, Theordore DAvignon, Leonard DAvignon, Peter DAvignon, Lois DAvignon, Francis DAvignon, Doris Smith, and Grace Shandrow.
Calling hours are Thursday from 5-8 PM at Sanderson-Ducharme Funeral Home, 117 South Main St., Middlebury.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 AM Friday at St. Marys Church with Pastor William R. Beaudin as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Marys Cemetery, Middlebury. A reception will follow at Weybridge Garage. www.sandersonfuneralservice.com
