Clarence John Newton Jr. 76, formerly of Middlebury, died late Saturday evening April 21, 2018 at Rutland Regional Medical Center. He was born April 19, 1942 in Burlington, VT the son of Clarence J. Newton Sr. and Muriel (Dorey) Newton. Clarence was a graduate of Middlebury High School. He was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church. Clarence was an avid New York Yankees and Giants fans. He enjoyed cutting wood, carpentry, building furniture, music and dancing. Survivors are his children, Clarence John Newton III and wife Darcy of Limerick, ME, Matthew Newton and significant other Lisa Desjadon of Forestdale and Peter Newton and wife Michelle of Middlebury, by his brothers, Roy Newton of Castleton and Kevin Newton and wife Beverley Burke of Middlebury, by his grandchildren, Allen Newton, Darrin Newton, Joey Newton, Carly Newton, Spencer Newton, Maxwell Newton, Anna MaKoujy, Stephanie MaKoujy and Jacob MaKoujy. Also by several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, by his wife Patricia (Desuatels) Newton in 1986 and by his brother Francis Newton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday April 27, 2018 at 11 AM at St. Marys Catholic Church, with the Rev. Luke Austin as the celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Marys Cemetery. There will be no Visiting Hours. Memorial contributions may be made to the Activities fund at the Pines at Rutland at 99 Allen Street, Rutland, VT 05701.
