Chester A. Kimball, 79, of New Haven died on Saturday June 18, 2011 at Porter Health Care in Middlebury. Chet was born on April 18, 1932 in Bridport to Arthur and Nina (Garvey) Kimball.
He graduated from Beeman Academy in 1950 and was married to Lavina Steady that fall.
Chet began his working career in Addison as
a farmer. He then drove trucks for Steady
Bros. and the Rouse family, managing the
Rouse operations in Saco, Maine. Chet and
Bina returned to Vermont in 1977 and purchased the Blue Spruce and Greystone Motels in Middlebury. They also established
The Bridge Family Restaurant in Addison,
which they operated until retirement.
During retirement Chet enjoyed hunting,
fishing, gardening and especially time with
his family.
He is survived by his wife, Lavina ( Steady)
Kimball , sons Craig Kimball and friend Denise Lathrop, and Michael Kimball all of New Haven, and a daughter Laurie Parke and her husband Steve of Saco, Maine. He also leaves twelve grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, a sister, Doris
( Tootie) Strong of Rutland, brother-in-laws Charlie Steady, Jim Steady and his wife Tippy. Sister-in-laws Vera and husband Russell Gilbert, and Sylvia Soulia. Chet was predeceased by his parents, a brother Roger and a son Ronnie Kimball.
There will be no calling hours. Graveside
service will be held on Tuesday June 21st at
1 P.M. at Evergreen Cemetery in New Haven.
In lieu of flowers donations in Chets memory may be made to Addison County Home, Health and Hospice.
