Charlotte Anna Viens, age 84 of Middlebury, VT, lovingly known as Annie, passed away peacefully beside her children on Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at the Havens in Middlebury.
Annie was born in New Haven, VT on March 4, 1937, daughter of the late George Many and Geraldine Many (Cyr). She graduated from Middlebury High School in 1955. After graduating, she worked off and on as a bookkeeper for more than 40 years. She was the bookkeeper for the school lunch program at Middlebury Union High School for many years. To this day, she is fondly remembered by former students as "the lunch lady."
Annie loved to dance, relished family gatherings, and in her younger days was quite proud of her match-making abilities. Few who heard it, will ever forget her infectious giggle. She also had a passion for painting and enjoyed baking brownies, cookies and her "no fail" fudge for family and friends. Annie was predeceased by husband Michael J. Hart of Pompano Beach, FL who passed in 1987. She was most recently predeceased by her husband Leo C. Viens of 28 years, of St Albans, VT who passed in February of this year, as well as by her brother George Many Jr. in 1972.
Annie is survived by her children Michelle Devost and partner Steve Herbert of St Johnsbury, VT, Angelique Devost of Madison, NJ, Margot Devost Cousino and her husband Levi Cousino of Monkton, VT, Donald Devost and his wife Michelle Jaworski Devost of Middlebury, VT and Heidi Hart Sullivan and her husband Rick Sullivan of Bristol, VT. She is also survived by her siblings Rita Rowan, twin sister Anita Pockette, Louise Kelley and brother Rene Many as well as 2 granddaughters, 8 grandsons, 8 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandson as well as stepchildren Charlie Viens of Hudson, NH and Karen Alcorn of Rutland, VT.
She will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her. A mass of Christian burial will be held at St Marys Catholic Church in Middlebury on Friday, September 17, 2021 at 11am with the Rev. Luke Austin as celebrant. A reception will follow the mass.
