CHARLES ROWE
CORNWALL- Charles Merton Charlie Rowe, 75, died unexpectedly helping on Rowecrest Farm on Sunday, December 2, 2007.
Born March 7, 1932 in Laconia, NH, he was the son of the late Merton C. and Grace (Foster) Rowe, and grew up on his family farm in Belmont, NH
In 1954, he graduated with a business degree from the University of New Hampshire. He enrolled in ROTC in college and entered the United States Air Force upon graduation, serving during the Korean Conflict.
Charlie married Mary Rose Novak from Lynn, MA on May 27, 1956. After working for a number of years in the business world, he and Mary fulfilled their lifelong dream of buying a farm in Cornwall and raising their five children there.
After retiring he continued to help his son on the farm. He was also an advertising representative for the Farm Bureau and took agricultural surveys for the government.
He loved gardening, reading, jazz music, history, genealogy and the Red Sox.!
Family members include his loving wife Mary of Cornwall, his five children Karen Rowe of Cambridge, MA, Daniel Rowe of Cornwall, David Rowe and his wife Donna of Medway, MA, James Rowe and his wife Bettie of Nottingham, PA, and Kathleen Brisson and her husband Randall of Shoreham and five grandchildren, Brendan and Brittany Rowe, Rose Rowe, Ben and Jack Brisson.
He was predeceased by his parents and his sister Clarice Russell.
Those who knew Charlie knew he loved to talk and meet new people. We will all miss his energetic exuberance and zest for life. He joked his epitaph read, so many people, so little time.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 AM Thursday, December 6, 2007 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Middlebury with Rev. Justin Baker, as celebrant.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial donations be made to the Charles M. Rowe Agricultural Scholarship Fund, c/o Kathleen Brisson, 1047 Barnum Hill Rd., Shoreham, VT 05770.
