Middlebury- Catherine A. Menard, 96, a longtime resident of Shoreham, died Monday, April 18, 2011 at Helen Porter Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.
Born in Rochester August 9, 1914, Catherine was the daughter of the late Edgar P. and Bessie (Gokey) Akey.
Catherine was a graduate of Mount St. Mary High School and attended Trinity College in Burlington and Burlington Business College.
She was a homemaker for many years, and served as Shoreham Town Treasurer and Assistant Town Clerk.
Catherine was a member and organist of St. Genevieves Catholic Church.
Surviving family members include one son, Dwight Menard and his wife Kanyarat of Shoreham; two daughters, Cynthia M. Brush and her husband, Howard Skip of Middlebury and Allison M. Dayton and her husband Donald of Middlebury; six grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; four sisters-in-law; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Ralph E. Menard who died in 1987, by a sister, Dorothea Akey and five brothers, John, Donald, Kenneth, James and Robert Akey.
There will be no calling hours.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 AM Monday, April 25, 2011 at St. Genevieves Church, Shoreham with the Rev. William R. Beaudin as celebrant.
Burial will follow in St. Genevieves Cemetery, Shoreham.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Genevieves Catholic Church or the Harp Therapy, Program, Helen Porter Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center
