New Haven Betty S. Cyr, 86, died Tuesday, August 11, 2009 at Helen Porter Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Middlebury. Born August 22, 1922 in Bristol, she was the daughter of Berley and Anna (Hallock) Sumner. Betty married Donald R. Cyr and moved to New Haven where they operated their farm and raised their children. She was a loving caring mother. She loved working in her garden, canning, word puzzles and her flower beds. She is survived by five sons, Wayne D. Cyr and his wife Valerie of Hinesburg, Frederick C. Cyr and Diana of Bowdoin, ME, Maurice R. Cyr and his wife Margaret of Bristol, Rodney J. Cyr of New Haven, Patrick D. Cyr and fiance Jane Pidgeon of New Haven; one daughter, Marguerite A. Searle and fianc Wayne Doane of Ripton; 5 brothers Sonny, Tracy and Phillip Sumner of Bristol Stanley Sumner of Fair Haven, Tex Sumner of Athol, MA, and a sister Catherine Sibley of Burlington; five grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Betty was predeceased by her husband Donald R. Cyr in 1995, a daughter, Ethelyn M. Morin in 2001, brother Stuart Sumner 3 sisters Beatrice Downer, Barbara Manning, Marjorie Sumner and a grandson. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday August 13, 2009 from 6 to 8 PM at Sanderson-Ducharme Funeral Home, 117 S. Main St., Middlebury. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday August, 14, 2009 at 11 AM, St. Marys Catholic Church Middlebury, with Rev. William R. Beaudin, pastor, as celebrant.
