Middlebury, VT Bernard L. Stewart Bernard Leslie Stewart, 83, died Wednesday May 27, 2009 at Helen Porter Health & Rehab. He was born September 25, 1925 in Hardwick, VT the son of the late Leon & Ella (Newton) Stewart. He attended schools in Hardwick & Greensboro. He worked as a machine operator for Kraft Foods for many years. After his retirement he took on the position of Custodian at Middlebury Congregational Church for the last ten years. His family and home were his life. He was a United States Army Veteran serving from 1954-1956. Bernard is survived by his wife Ruth (Sawyer) Stewart, of Middlebury, his two sons, Burt Stewart & his wife Bobbi, of Ferrisburg, and Jim Stewart & his wife Linda, of Middlebury, his grandchildren, Heather Thomas & her husband Jeff, of Colorado Springs, CO., Kelly and Sarah Stewart, of Middlebury, by his two sister-in-laws Jean Stewart, of Greensboro, VT, and Vera Stewart, of Bradenton, FL also several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, four brothers and one sister. A Memorial service will be held on Saturday May 30, 2009 at 1 PM at the Middlebury Congregational Church. The Rev. Jonathan New will officiate. Burial will follow in Weybridge Cemetery.
