Beatrice M. Gerow
Ripton- Beatrice M. Dayton Gerow, a longtime resident of Ripton, died peacefully Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at her home.
Born in Middlebury July 30, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Murtie Bell (King) Dayton.
She attended Middlebury schools, graduating from Middlebury High School, class of 1938 and Albany Business College in 1940.
She enjoyed many outdoor activities including Golf, skiing, and snowmobiling.
Beatrice married Raymond L. Gerow October 19, 1940 and he predeceased her in 1980. Her second husband Cyrus Elmore predeceased her in 2006. In addition she was predeceased by a son, Raymond Gerow, Jr. in 1983.
Surviving family members include three daughters, Suzanne G. LaRock and her husband David of Brandon, Nancy G. Reynolds and her husband James of Salisbury, and Constance G. Fitzpatrick and her husband Thomas of East Middlebury; one son, Theodore D. Gerow and his wife Deborah of New Haven; one brother Donald Dayton of Vero Beach, FL; four grandchildren, Michael Gerow, Smith Reynolds, Kate Squire and Colin Reynolds; her great grandchildren Ashley and Aaron Gerow; several nieces and nephews.
There will be no calling hours.
A private family service will be conducted at Ripton Community Church with Rev. Jill Robinson, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Cook Cemetery.
Friends and family are invited to a reception at her home at 1 PM Saturday, Sept. 4, 2010.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Cystic Fibrosis, Multiple Sclerosis Foundation or the Addison County Home Healthcare and Hospice.
