Allen E. LaFountain, Sr., age 99, of East Middlebury, Vt passed away on November 11. He passed away at the home of Chris and Sharon Crane where he has lived for the last year and a half. Allen was born August 12, 1923 to Arthur and Julia(Kelsey) LaFountain. Allen attended school in Cornwall and Weybridge, VT. After leaving school he went into the Army. He married Ruth Jerry, April 17, 1945. He worked farming, construction, and retired from Polemyer's Plastic Shop. He was also a volunteer fireman in East Middlebury for many years. Allen was funny, loved to tell stories of his life, loved his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Allen is survived by a daughter Eloise Crane of Salisbury, a son Allen E. LaFountain Jr. of Alabama, his grandsons: Scott Crane of New Haven, Christopher Crane and wife Sharon of Salisbury, David Crane and his partner Jaime Desforge of Sudbury; and great grandchildren: Chris Bristol of Burlington, Christopher Crane, Jr. and wife Dawn of New Haven, Courtney Crane of Virginia, Lily Crane of Massachusetts, Fletcher Crane of Sudbury and Joycelyn Noble of Sudbury; also, by one brother Arthur LaFountain, Jr. of Florida, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Ruth and his brothers and sisters. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Addison County Home Health who gave Allen excellent care. On November 27, there will be a Celebration of Allen's life at the American Legion in Middlebury from 11am to 4pm. Arrangements are under the direction of the Sanderson-Ducharme Funeral Home.
