Albert Binns Cox II of North Ferrisburgh, passed away at Shard Villa in Salisbury, Vermont on April 20, after a long battle with brain cancer.
Binns, as he liked to be called, was born in Richmond, Virginia, in 1944. After graduating high school, Binns attended George Washington University, Washington, D.C. He obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in Business and Economics. Drafted into the United States Navy, he served as a Lieutenant in the Supply Corps. Binns met and married Betsy Stocking, in 1977, and they eventually made their home in Vermont. Binns found employment as Operations Manager at G.S. Blodgett, and was also employed at the Lakes Region Mental Health Center in Laconia, New Hampshire, where he became Director of Finance and Administration.
Binns is survived by many relatives in and around the Barryville, Virginia area. He and his beloved pre-deceased wife, Betsy, lived quiet, gracious lives; however, they both struggled with numerous health issues during their later years. Despite those challenges, they both remained eternally optimistic. Their love of nature was expressed in their philanthropy to various preservation and birding organizations, and they remained loyal to their philosophy of living simply and appreciating lifes precious moments. Binns will be remembered by his friends and loved ones as the quintessential southern gentleman. It was his request that there will be no memorial service.
