Middlebury- Alan R. Berens, 84, died June 3, 2010 at Porter Hospital. Born in Elmhurst, IL September 28, 1925, he was the son of the late Helmut A. and Alice Thompson Berens. Alan was a research chemist for B.F. Goodrich, Inc. Family members include his wife Betty(McAdam) Berens of Middlebury, a son, Robert S. Berens and his wife Patricia of Belmont, MA and a daughter, Kathryn B. Purcell and her husband John of Middlebury; five grandchildren, Evan B. Purcell of NYC, Emily K. Pucell of Middlebury, Timothy A. Berens, Kathryn U. Berens and Peter R. Berens, all of Belmont, MA. Private burial will take place at Wetbridge Cemetery, Weybridge. A public celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
