Agnes G. (Walsh) Lacey, 93, passed away on Tuesday, October 17, 2017 in the town of New Bedford, Massachusetts. She was the wife of William Lacey, Sr., who preceded her in death. Agnes leaves behind one son, William Lacey, Jr., his wife Lynne, two grandchildren, Connor and Tara, and her husband Shane. She leaves behind her daughter-niece, Patricia (Lacey) Walsh, her son, Roger, and her partner, Sandra. Remaining behind are seven nieces and nephews. Agnes was born in Newfoundland and grew up in the town of Carbonear. "Gert" studied Nursing in St. Johns, Nfld, graduating in 1947 with a degree in Psychiatric Nursing. She was awarded a commendation for Outstanding Work in the field of mental health. Prior to the familys emigration to the US, Gert was in charge of the hospital pharmacy. She greatly enjoyed singing in the St. Marys choir and held many friends in her heart during the years after her husbands passing. Visitation will be held Saturday, October 28, 2017 from 910:30 AM, at Sanderson-Ducharme Funeral Home, 117 S. Main St., Middlebury followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Marys BVM Catholic Church. Rev. Luke Austin will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Marys Cemetery.
